Forest Church / Forest Church Workshops, Retreats and other Events

Workshops and retreats are a great way to explore Forest Church and its related themes: from nature connection to new earth spiritualties, facilitation skills to the supporting psychology and theology.

See images of recent workshops here.

The focus of the workshops currently on offer are either How To sessions about starting and facilitating Forest Church (aimed at individuals or groups that are thinking of starting something similar) – or more experiential opportunities to deepen nature connection and experience a bit of what Forest Church does. The focus of the latter, whether it overtly draws links to the Christ tradition or not, depends on the group.

If you’re interested in arranging a workshop or retreat, or inviting some input into an existing programme, please get in touch with .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

We are also exploring our own hosted retreats and workshops, including:

  • A long weekend camp / mini-festival for anyone interested in Forest Church and related ideas (incorporating workshops, a gorsedd, etc)
  • A facilitators weekend to share ideas and support.
  • Deepening nature connection retreats and workshops.
  • A weekend of play in the forest just for adults, forest grad-school.
  • A semi wild-camping pilgrimage in the Cambrian Mountains (incorporating natural navigation, foraging, nature connection, weather lore, tracking, landscape reading and plenty of time for contemplation).

News about any events open to all will be listed on this page.

Feedback from previous events

The whole day, enhanced by the beautiful woods and sunshine, was delightful - well structured and covered much material. It was all enjoyable and very informative. Learning about foraging and having examples from Bruce’s wonderful basket of tricks was most interesting. I loved the tea ceremony, which I found quite moving. Jo.

The best thing about the day was meeting other like minded people, and learning so many new things about nature, how to walk, how to listen. It was very inspiring and also healing, a good way to get in touch with God through nature. It was so well planned that one thing flowed so easily into the next thing. Elizabeth.

It was a unique opportunity to learn about the spirituality of nature and to experience the refreshment of being there in a reflective atmosphere. Mollie.

It was like discovering some missing bits of a puzzle, a ‘joining’ experience, it left me with the desire for more and the feeling to be on the right track. Chiara.

I loved the sense of the day’s encouragement to ‘attend’ to the natural world. I felt this would connect to and feed anyone’s spirituality. Bruce is a highly engaging speaker. Great find! Peter.

I appreciated the non-threatening nature of the day eg no introductions, no sharing in two’s, and Bruce’s relaxed, humble, informal style. Pippa.
